Treatments

When you come to Dent1st you can be sure that you will be getting the very best treatment from the very best in the business. As a practice focusing mainly on oral surgical procedures we carry out complicated dental implant treatments and bone treatments on a daily basis but also we are more than happy to help you with less invasive and complex treatments. We are proud to say that our patient-dentist contact time is designed to make sure that everyone coming for treatment at Dent1st knows exactly what will be involved in every procedure and we only begin treatment when you are sure that it is the right thing for you.

Some procedures need to be done for reasons other than aesthetic – for example surgical wisdom tooth removal, root canal treatments and the management of gum problems – but even here our latest equipment such as the latest 3D X-ray machinery can be of enormous help. We make sure that we have all the facts at our disposal when beginning your treatment planning; this makes the job smooth and trouble free for both you and all the staff here at Dent1st. If you are nervous, even to the point of suffering from dental phobia, please discuss this at the earliest possible stage. We have dentists with special interest here to help you manage your concerns and you can even opt for sedation if you wish. We can also offer the option of laser treatment for some more minor issues, which most nervous patients find less threatening.

Much of our work at Dent1st is aesthetic and we are very proud of our high success rates in dental bridge and crown work although where at all possible we do use preservative procedures to enable you to keep your natural teeth. Our cosmetic dentists are particularly experienced with dental veneers and we only use the most up to date techniques and technologies to enable you to obtain a smile makeover of which you can be truly proud. Once your teeth are looking perfect, our professional hygienists are here to help you look after them, with helpful advice to protect and preserve the health of your mouth generally. If you need tooth whitening, we can provide this through our Zoom advanced teeth whitening system.

Dental implants

Dental implants

There have been marked improvements in dental care over the years. As well as the increasingly sophisticated tools available to dentists, public awareness of the importance of good dental hygiene has expanded. Despite this, millions of people still suffer from the loss of teeth due to decay, gum disease or injury. Missing teeth have traditionally been countered with bridges and dentures. But dental implants are a modern alternative to dentures that are becoming more widespread.

These…

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is a range of dental procedures aimed at improving the look of the teeth and can encompass all sorts of treatments, from teeth whitening and teeth alignment, to tooth replacement. Cosmetic dentistry used to be expensive and only celebrities and the wealthy could afford it. However, thanks to advances in dental technology and more competition caused by more people wanting to have a beautiful smile, cosmetic dentistry is now far more affordable.

Because the smile is so…

Dental Hygiene

The role of a dental hygienist

Unhealthy gums are often a source of tooth decay and other diseases of the mouth. Dentists rely on highly-trained dental hygienists to provide a crucial aspect of patient care – maintaining oral hygiene. Hygienists will also be concerned with preventive measures – educating people in the benefits of keeping teeth and gums clean.

Laser Treatments

Laser Treatments

The use of lasers in dentistry dates back to 1994. Back then, lasers were used to treat only a few dental problems. However, these days, the role of lasers in dentistry has increased dramatically as more and more dentists have realise the huge potential and benefits of using lasers to treat patients.
Bone treatments

Bone treatments

More often than not, additional procedures are required before, during and after implant placement to ensure the durability and stability of the implants.

Invisible Orthodontic Treatment

Amongst the appliances for orthodontic treatment available on the market, one of the most effective is Invisalign. Its popularity is down to its appearance, as well as its efficiency and comfort.

If there are any limitations with the treatment, it is recommended to introduce other appliances (pre-treatment or auxiliary treatment). Invisalign employ a strict planning process that determines the suitability of any patient for proceeding with their…

Wisdom Tooth

Wisdom Tooth

The wisdom teeth are so called because they don’t usually erupt before the late teens or early twenties by which time a person could be assumed to have attained some wisdom. They come in right at the back of the gums, one in each ‘corner and because they are so late in erupting the other teeth are usually in place and there is no room for more. Because of this potential crowding, the wisdom teeth can emerge at a painful angle or they may fail to come through completely. This is what…
Root Canal Treatments

Root Canal Treatments

Root canal treatments are often necessary on teeth that are badly decayed or have become infected. Root canal treatments involve removing the nerve and the pulp of the tooth, cleaning the inside and sealing it. Some people are frightened of root canal treatments as they think they are painful. However, most people find the procedure is no more painful than other dental treatments, such as having a filling. Furthermore, because root canal treatments are needed when a tooth is infected or…
Sedation and Anaesthetics

Sedation and Anaesthetics

Intravenous Sedation (IV)

For some patients, particularly those that suffer anxiety when visiting the dentist, it is sometimes necessary to administer sedative drugs before giving treatment. These sedatives are administered directly into the blood stream, in a procedure known as intravenous conscious sedation. This enables the patient to relax but also remain conscious during treatment. This means they can understand and respond to the dentist, which may be essential during certain procedures.
